Collect supplier data and publish digital product passports
Overview

Collect supplier data and publish digital product passports

The EU is introducing Digital Product Passports for textiles under the ESPR; the detailed textile rules are not adopted yet. Collect fibre composition, origin and certificates from your suppliers through a secure portal, review and approve them, and publish passport pages on your store domain with a QR code and a product page block. Every published version is kept unchanged. Composition checks follow EU textile labelling rules. For apparel, footwear and textile brands selling in the EU.

Lektoro helps you check and document. It does not provide legal advice.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Are Digital Product Passports for textiles mandatory yet?

Not yet. The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, (EU) 2024/1781, sets the framework, but the delegated act with the detailed textile requirements has not been adopted. Dates and the final list of data are not fixed. The app lets you collect and publish the data that is expected today and keeps the passport format versioned so it can follow the final rules. Fibre composition labelling under Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 already applies.

Does the app change my products or theme?

No product data is changed: the app only reads titles, SKUs and barcodes. Passport pages are served from the app on your store domain, and the product page block appears only when you add it in the theme editor.

What do my suppliers see?

Each supplier gets a private link without a Shopify login. They see only the requests and sections you sent them and the evidence they uploaded. You can revoke links at any time. Nothing a supplier submits is published until you approve it.

Can a published passport change?

Each approval or publication creates a new version; earlier versions stay available at their own link and are never edited. Old QR codes keep working, also after a barcode change.

What happens to passports if I uninstall the app?

Passport pages are served through the app, so they stop working while the app is not installed. Your data is kept for a short time after uninstalling and then deleted. Before you leave, use Settings › Export archive and publish the passports with another provider or on your own server, so printed QR codes can be redirected.

Which languages are supported?

The app's admin is in English. Passport pages and the product block can be shown in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish; the number of languages depends on your plan.

Does this make my products compliant? Is this legal advice?

No. The app checks fibre names and percentages against the EU labelling rules and flags missing data, which helps you prepare. It does not verify your suppliers' claims or certificates and is not legal advice; ask your legal advisor about your obligations.
